Younger Than Me - Mind Hunter [Disci Autunno]

Following releases this year on XXX and Nein, Italian duo Younger Than Me now make their debut on Jennifer Cardini and Noura Labbani’s Dischi Autunno with an outstanding, explorative, yet inherently (and beautifully) 90s-feeling five-track EP. Three originals, two remixes: ‘Mind Hunter’ leads the cosmic charge, ploughing us beyond the known universe on a ship of acid and pulsating warm analog synths. ‘Feeling Breath’ takes us even deeper into electronica’s most formative decade with an uptempo thrust, more acid and wry elements of trance before ‘Sewer Rat’ takes us deep underground with much more of a percussive techno twist. Remix-wise Jennifer has recruited the perfect complementary artists: Acid Junkies (who made the first record she ever learnt to DJ with back in 94) flip ‘Sewer Rat’ into an almighty acid juggernaut while Shan once again reminds us why he’s the master of modern rave a stunning eight-minute, break-based twist on ‘Feeling Breath’.
